Find me on:

We are in the states. Susie and the kids are on their way to Austin and I to Indianapolis.

Everything is unnervingly familiar- the accents, the colloquialisms, the advertisements and the sports on TV. I continue to feel a little like an outsider, but am not sure why.  I want to go to strangers and tell them it is odd understanding their conversations.  But then I realize that doing so would be supremely creepy and I control my impulse.

I have taken some solace in the fact that there are two different languages other than English on my Indy flight. Why are Italians and Frenchpersons going to Indy?  Seems like an odd destination for Continental Europeans, but what do I know?

I am confused, but delighted they are here.

I slept the sleep of the dead for 20 minutes on the flight.  Happily, this did not include a pool of drool but it did come with massive disorientation.  Was I on a bus?  A subway?  A shuttle?  No, it was a taxiing plane.  But where?  And there was a distinct lack of children.  Hmmm.

It is 3:30 London time and the mini-nap only made me deeply confused.

So, the European adventure is complete.  It was so many things.  Glorious.  Odd.  Dirty.  Hard.  Funny.  Inspiring.  Loving.

Even now and then, you have ideas that are good.  Even less often, you have ideas that are great.  This trip falls into the latter category.

I hope you enjoyed reading about the first leg of our travels.  I know I have looked forward to sharing every day.
