With so much uncertainty right now, I find myself thinking through questions that are impossible to answer. There is one question in particular that I’ve been focusing on: *How is this pandemic going to affect the social skills of all people, especially children?* ![IMG_1915](https://blog.campchampions.com/hs-fs/hubfs/IMG_1915.jpg?width=492&name=IMG_1915.jpg) [Read More](https://blog.campchampions.com/social-skills-at-camp) 0 Comments [Click here to read/write comments](https://blog.campchampions.com/social-skills-at-camp#comments-listing) ## [Raising Kids to Act Courageously](https://blog.campchampions.com/raising-kids-to-act-courageously) Posted by [Kate Hutson](https://blog.campchampions.com/author/kate-hutson) on Apr 27, 2020 5:47:19 PM I recently attended a virtual workshop with [Candace Doby](https://candacedoby.com/), a speaker and author who specializes in helping youth and young adults build courage. Candace defines courage as “a choice to face a threat for a **worthy purpose**.” What she means by this is that, by being courageous, one is choosing to overcome a fear because the result will be worthy, or in line with personal values. ![Are our values a good match-1](https://blog.campchampions.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Are%20our%20values%20a%20good%20match-1.jpg?width=492&name=Are%20our%20values%20a%20good%20match-1.jpg) [Read More](https://blog.campchampions.com/raising-kids-to-act-courageously) 0 Comments [Click here to read/write comments](https://blog.campchampions.com/raising-kids-to-act-courageously#comments-listing) ## [Expressing Gratitude](https://blog.campchampions.com/expressing-gratitude) Posted by [Kate Hutson](https://blog.campchampions.com/author/kate-hutson) on Apr 14, 2020 1:41:49 PM When the COVID-19 “lockdown” first began, I made it a goal to write down my gratitudes each night at bedtime. Between the disruption to my normal routine and the new challenges of daily life, I wanted to continue seeing the positives of each day. I did an admirable job sticking with this goal for the first two weeks. Each evening, I wrote down 5-10 things I was grateful for that day. Things were going well! ![Values](https://blog.campchampions.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Values.jpg?width=492&name=Values.jpg) [Read More](https://blog.campchampions.com/expressing-gratitude) 0 Comments [Click here to read/write comments](https://blog.campchampions.com/expressing-gratitude#comments-listing) ## [An Encouraging Email From a Camp Family](https://blog.campchampions.com/an-encouraging-email-from-a-camp-family) Posted by [Kate Hutson](https://blog.campchampions.com/author/kate-hutson) on Apr 7, 2020 3:01:01 PM   We recently received an encouraging email from a camp family that we think is worth sharing with our community. This is from the family of a longtime camper who is using the "gift of Camp Champions" during these trying times. ![Friends](https://blog.campchampions.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Friends.jpg?width=492&name=Friends.jpg) [Read More](https://blog.campchampions.com/an-encouraging-email-from-a-camp-family) 0 Comments [Click here to read/write comments](https://blog.campchampions.com/an-encouraging-email-from-a-camp-family#comments-listing) ## [Seeing COVID-19 Through My “Camp Glasses”](https://blog.campchampions.com/seeing-covid19-through-my-camp-glasses) Posted by [Kate Hutson](https://blog.campchampions.com/author/kate-hutson) on Apr 2, 2020 3:08:49 PM   As I’m currently living through this time of stress and uncertainty due to the coronavirus, stuck in Quarantine (or The Q, as I like to call it), I’m reminded of how well camp has prepared me for this situation. ![Red Dance](https://blog.campchampions.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Red%20Dance.jpg?width=492&name=Red%20Dance.jpg) [Read More](https://blog.campchampions.com/seeing-covid19-through-my-camp-glasses) 0 Comments [Click here to read/write comments](https://blog.campchampions.com/seeing-covid19-through-my-camp-glasses#comments-listing) ## [Virtual Camp: Thank You to Essential Workers!](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-thank-you-essential-workers) Posted by [Kate Hutson](https://blog.campchampions.com/author/kate-hutson) on Mar 31, 2020 11:18:28 AM ![Girl hugging Susie](https://blog.campchampions.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Girl%20hugging%20Susie.jpg?width=492&name=Girl%20hugging%20Susie.jpg) [Read More](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-thank-you-essential-workers) 0 Comments [Click here to read/write comments](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-thank-you-essential-workers#comments-listing) ## [Virtual Camp: Reasonable Risks](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-reasonable-risks) Posted by [Kate Hutson](https://blog.campchampions.com/author/kate-hutson) on Mar 27, 2020 2:47:40 PM ![Susie Maam Belly Flop](https://blog.campchampions.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Blog_Images/Susie%20Maam%20Belly%20Flop.jpg?width=574&name=Susie%20Maam%20Belly%20Flop.jpg) [Read More](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-reasonable-risks) 0 Comments [Click here to read/write comments](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-reasonable-risks#comments-listing) ## [Virtual Camp: Respect](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-respect) Posted by [Kate Hutson](https://blog.campchampions.com/author/kate-hutson) on Mar 26, 2020 5:08:43 PM ![Cassady&Scarlett](https://blog.campchampions.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Cassady%26Scarlett.jpg?width=625&name=Cassady%26Scarlett.jpg) [Read More](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-respect) 0 Comments [Click here to read/write comments](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-respect#comments-listing) ## [Virtual Camp: Reaching Out](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-reaching-out) Posted by [Kate Hutson](https://blog.campchampions.com/author/kate-hutson) on Mar 24, 2020 2:14:14 PM ![Boys1](https://blog.campchampions.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Boys1.jpg?width=625&name=Boys1.jpg) [Read More](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-reaching-out) 0 Comments [Click here to read/write comments](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-reaching-out#comments-listing) ## [Virtual Camp: Responsibility](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-responsibility) Posted by [Kate Hutson](https://blog.campchampions.com/author/kate-hutson) on Mar 23, 2020 4:49:19 PM   ![Inspection](https://blog.campchampions.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Inspection.jpg?width=681&name=Inspection.jpg) [Read More](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-responsibility) 0 Comments [Click here to read/write comments](https://blog.campchampions.com/virtual-camp-responsibility#comments-listing) [All posts](https://blog.campchampions.com/all) [Next](https://blog.campchampions.com/author/kate-hutson/page/2) ### Subscribe to Email Updates ### Recent Posts ### Posts by Topic -
