Find me on:

It is my hope that this blog helps you understand a little about camp and our passion for what we do.  I also hope it puts the occasional smile on your face.

For the most part, I love it. It gives me a chance to have a moment of refection every day.  It is also fun to share.

But I have to say that there are days that I sit at the keyboard and the blank page mocks me.  Sometimes this blank screen does its mocking around midnight. That is when I like the screen the least.

Usually the end of the summer brings some of this writer’s block, but that has not happened as much this summer. Nevertheless, it is so nice when something happens that inspires a blog that will write itself. This card we got yesterday is one of these blessed “insta-blogs”.

Working at camp has daily rewards, in smiles, hugs, newfound confidence and big laughs.  These rewards, however, are rarely written.  After all, most young people avoid hand-writing like ebola or algebra.  Most of their “written” communication will be on computers and phones, often in text (Instagram/Snapchat) form.  Further, the camp day is pretty darn full, so it is not like campers are awash in time to write.  Finally, the small handful that DO want to write real letters, tech free, will tend to write to parents and family.

So you can imagine how happy Susie Ma’am was to get this lovely note from a first time camper.  Not only is it a considerate act by the camper, it compliments exactly what we hope camp is about – a fun and loving community.

I am going to miss these campers!
