Today was All-Camp Super Camp Fun Day.
OK, the name is pretty lame, but the concept is really pretty cool. During the morning, the campers have the opportunity to choose where they want to go and what they want to do. Typically, we schedule many of their activities. This is helpful in assuring that every camper gets a chance to do some of the most popular activities, like water toys (tubing behind a wave runner), sailing, Pirate Ship (our unique ropes course) or the climbing wall.
But it is also nice to have freedom to go where you want to go.
So we open roughly half of the activities and tell the campers that they can go where they want.
But we do not stop there. We also bring in inflatables and other special activities for any campers that crave something truly new.
Finally, we also allow campers to just hang out under a tree or in the Hearth library.
In the afternoon, we brought in a different set of inflatables and had a camp Beach Party next to the lake.
At dinner tonight, I checked in with about a dozen campers and was thrilled to learn that they thought this year’s Beach Party and All-Camp Super Camp Fun Day was a huge success.
Tonight, we will have Trojan-Spartan Initiation. I look forward to telling you more tomorrow.
