[Note: this is the second blog I have written about the pending departure of 3 of our 4 children to college. OK, I get that I should be writing about camp, but with just 1 week before we send the first one off, I felt like a had a little more to say. Please know that when I am not writing, I am completely focused on camp!!]

Last night, the graduates of the Senior Camper program joined us in one of my favorite evenings of the summer.
As we savor the last weeks of summer, my mind turns to a major change to our lives. This fall, three of our four children will head to college.
Yesterday, we invited all our first-time campers who arrived on Sunday to our home for milk, cookies and questions.
There are several advantages of coming to camp at the end of the summer. Perhaps most importantly, the counselors and staff are well-experienced. Even the staff members who were new to summer camp in May are now veterans. They have dealt with homesickness, the camp schedule and the vagaries of cabin life.
On behalf of the staff and counselors at Camp Champions, let me welcome everyone that is joining us for our 51st summer of camping fun!
We have had a great summer, with 8 weeks of camp behind us. We work for almost 10 months each year in order to enjoy the gifts of camp: the smiles, the hugs, the laughter and the opportunities for growth!
This week will be the last one of the summer for our Senior Camper (high school leadership) program.
