We traveled to Lima yesterday and arrived after midnight., so I have little to report except two cultural observations.
In our last full day in Buenos Aires, we chose to do a series of quintessential Argentinian experiences. We saw the church that Pope Francis served in; visited an epically beautiful (and staggeringly European) opera house; we met friends for drinks at a sidewalk café and watched a tango show.
When we visited Melbourne, we did so in two stages. The first time we stayed in a very tired old hotel that did not provide breakfast or the Internet. That place reminded me of the hotels near Times Square in the 1990’s – slightly dingy, somewhat cramped and generally depressing. To continue the similarities to Times Square, its location was near the largest downtown train station, as well as multiple delis, newsstands and some seedy bars.
The logistics bombshell from yesterday continues to send reverberations through the today.
As a camp director, I appreciate how challenging logistics can be. When our travel company described our trip, I wondered how they could possibly arrange for personalized transportation over large distances. That is difficult and expensive.
Chile remains beautiful, the internet continues to crawl. I leave this picture for you (taken from the restaurant of our hotel) with a promise of updates to come.
When you are on your right path, the universe conspires to help you.
Today has been a day of transportation and logistics, so there is little to report. As a result, I will share one quick story and a few extra photos.
