During this session, I will be writing a fresh blog each day. We will also post 1-2 other articles that I have writing in the past that attempt to describe the power of summer camp.
Most days I schedule some time to write this blog. Of course, I am no fool. I also lay out two alternative times.
As you may have read, we spend a lot of time in the off-season thinking about the skills that campers foster at camp, especially the “21st Century Skills” of communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and leadership.
Susie Ma’am and I often hear the same statement from campers, counselors and graduates school friends:
At times, the ridiculousness of the camp life hits me smack in the face. Today is such a day.
I would like to share some exciting news about next summer.
Twice each week, Susie Ma’am and I invite the Senior Campers into our home for chats we call Baskin Talks (admittedly not the most original name). Each of the three age groups (finishing 9th, 10th and 11th grades) meets separately for an hour.
Today, the boys and girls have very different evening activities. On the boys’ side, we have a wide variety of plans for the different age groups.
At times, I find myself sitting at my keyboard at 11PM trying to think of something to share with our wonderful parents.
